HOUSTON -- The Angels placed outfielder Matt Joyce on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Tuesday and optioned third baseman Kyle Kubitza to Triple-A Salt Lake, creating room on the roster for newly acquired outfielder Shane Victorino and left-handed-hitting first baseman/outfielder Efren Navarro.
Victorino was in the lineup, batting eighth and playing left field, for Tuesday's series opener against the Astros, who trail the Angels by one game in the American League West. But Mike Trout was not.
Trout hurt his left wrist while making a diving catch in the fourth inning on Sunday, but he got three hits after that -- one of them a grand slam -- and said after the game that he was fine.
