Trout hits 30th HR, joins Mays in record books

ST. PETERSBURG -- Mike Trout collected his 30th home run of the season in the seventh inning of the Angels' series opener against the Rays on Tuesday, launching a towering solo shot off the C-ring catwalk at Tropicana Field.

Trout crushed a 2-1 changeup from left-hander Ryan Yarbrough, depositing it 427 feet to center field and cutting the Rays' lead to 10-6. It was the sixth fair ball to strike the C-ring catwalk this season, according to the Rays.

Trout joins Willie Mays as the only players to hit 30 home runs and steal 20 bases in three seasons before their age-26 campaigns.
