On June 2nd, 2004, Vladimir Guerrero set the Angel franchise record for the most RBI in a game. His nine RBI in the 10-7 victory over the Boston Red Sox at the Big A surpassed the previous team record of eight held by Adam Kennedy (2000), Don Baylor (1979), Leon Wagner (1961), and Lee Thomas (1961).
You wouldn’t think that Guerrero would be able to set this record on a night when fellow Dominican Pedro Martinez was the starting pitcher for the opposition, but that is exactly what happened. Guerrero’s first RBI came in the first inning when David Eckstein was on first base and Guerrero hit the sixth pitch of his at bat over the left field wall to give the Angels a 2-0 lead.
