Surgery will sideline Cron 3-6 weeks

The Angels announced Monday that first baseman C.J. Cron will have surgery Tuesday to repair a left hand fracture. Dr. Steve Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Anaheim will perform the surgery, and the timetable for return is six to eight weeks.

Cron was hit in the hand by a pitch from Orioles right-hander Mike Wright in the sixth inning of the Angels' win over Baltimore on Friday. The 26-year-old is batting .278/.333/.475 with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs this season. He had been hot before the injury, batting .364 with five home runs and 17 RBIs in July.
