ANAHEIM – On the evening the Angels honored him by inducting him into the Angels Hall of Fame, “Mr. Angel” was humbled.
This was Tim Salmon’s moment to be celebrated along with 1964 Cy Young Award-winner Dean Chance and two-time All-Star pitcher and 1984 perfect game hurler Mike Witt.
But Salmon, 46, feeling overwhelmed to be in the company and wearing the same Hall of Fame red blazer as some of his heroes, celebrated not his achievements but everyone else who made them possible.
Standing at a podium in front of the Angel Stadium mound during Saturday’s pregame ceremony, Salmon looked at Jackie Autry, the wife of original owner Gene Autry.
