A pair of familiar news items happened for the Angels on Tuesday. Shohei Ohtani was named American League player of the week for the second time in three weeks, and third baseman Anthony Rendon was placed on the injured list for the third time in 2021.
Ohtani hit .286/.400/1.143 with six home runs in six games last week. The dingers were enough to outweigh Ohtani’s worst start of the year on the mound, allowing seven runs while recording only two outs on June 30 in New York. He allowed six total runs in his previous four starts.
