We didn’t get the result we wanted, but it sure was exciting. Shohei Ohtani was the favorite to win heading into Monday’s Home Run Derby, but he didn’t even make it out of the first round. However, it took a true battle to take out the champ.
Juan Soto took down Ohtani, hitting 31 home runs compared to Ohtani’s 28. Both hitters were tied at the end of the first round as each player hit 22 home runs. It took a crazy comeback from Ohtani to send it to a bonus round, as he was struggling through the first minute.
