ANAHEIM -- Angels right-hander Garrett Richards departed his start against the Mariners on Tuesday in the third inning with an apparent injury.
Richards retired the first two batters he faced to start the third, but Angels trainer Adam Nevala and manager Mike Scioscia came out to check on him during an at-bat against Nelson Cruz. After a brief discussion on the mound, Richards exited the game and was replaced by reliever Noe Ramirez.
Richards departed after giving up three runs on four hits -- including a three-run home run to Mitch Haniger in the first inning -- over 2 2/3 innings.
