The San Diego Padres fired Manager Bud Black, a former longtime Angels pitching coach, on Monday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Black was the 2010 National League manager of the year.
The Padres are 32-33 and six games behind the first-place Dodgers in the NL West.
Black was in the final year of his contract. He served as the Angels' pitching coach for seven seasons before he was hired by the Padres in 2006. He pitched for 15 seasons in the major leagues.
