ANAHEIM -- The Angels on Sunday placed JC Ramirez on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow strain. The right-hander exited his start against the A's early on Saturday after two innings and was evaluated by team doctors Sunday.
Ramirez, 29, missed the final six weeks of last season after undergoing stem-cell therapy to treat a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. It's unclear if the strain is related, but he said he began experiencing tightness during warmups and it lingered into the game.
The Angels also optioned right-hander Akeel Morris, who was needed for 2 1/3 innings after Ramirez's exit Saturday, to Triple-A Salt Lake and called up righties Felix Pena and Eduardo Paredes.
