Pujols ties Schmidt with 548th homer

ANAHEIM -- Angels first baseman Albert Pujols pounced on a knuckleball in the second inning of Monday's doubleheader finale vs. the Red Sox and lofted it over the left-field fence, giving him a Major League-leading 28 home runs on the year and tying him with Mike Schmidt for 15th on the all-time list.

Pujols' 548th career homer, a solo shot, came off Red Sox right-hander Steven Wright, a local product who had roughly 30 friends and family members on hand at Angel Stadium. It was Pujols' second of the day -- he hit a solo homer off Eduardo Rodriguez in the second inning of an 11-1 win in Game 1 -- and his 20th since May 28.
