ANAHEIM -- Albert Pujols tied Ken Griffey Jr. for sixth place on the all-time homer list with his 630th career homer on Thursday, hitting a solo homer off Mariners pitcher Nick Rumbelow in the sixth inning.
Pujols went deep in the first inning for his 629th blast, four batters after rookie David Fletcher hit his first career home run.
The Angels' struggles against left-handed starters this season have been well documented, but their bats came alive against Mariners southpaw James Paxton in the first inning of Thursday's series finale at Angel Stadium.
