ANAHEIM -- Albert Pujols blasted his 631st career home run in the second inning of the Angels' game against the White Sox on Wednesday night, passing Ken Griffey Jr. for sole possession of sixth place on the all-time list.
Pujols collected the milestone blast after hammering a first-pitch fastball from right-hander James Shields to left field, giving the Angels a 2-0 lead. It was Pujols' 17th home run of the season and his first since returning from the disabled list on Monday. Mike Trout opened the scoring with his 27th home run in the first inning.
