Perez has started six of the Angels' last eight games behind the plate, including Wednesday's series finale against the Rockies at Angel Stadium. Perez, called up on May 4 largely because Iannetta's batting average was sitting below .100, was batting .361 for Triple-A Salt Lake and had six hits in his first 18 at-bats in the Majors -- including a walk-off home run in his Major League debut.
"Any time a player plays well, you're going to earn more playing time," Scioscia said. "That's what Carlos has shown."
Scioscia said, "We're going to need them both," and is conscious of Iannetta's well-established track record for getting on base and providing occasional power.
