Angels closer Huston Street attended the red-carpet movie premiere of “My All American” on Wednesday night in his hometown of Austin, Texas, and left the Paramount Theatre with tear-soaked eyes and a heavy but healing heart.
The movie, which opened nationwide this weekend, tells the triumphant, tragic and true story of Freddie Steinmark, a cancer-stricken defensive back on the 1969 University of Texas national championship team.
Street grew up knowing both the glory and heartbreak of that legendary season. He had heard the stories from his late father, James Street, the wishbone quarterback who led the Darrell Royal-coached Longhorns through the perfect season.
