When he was acquired from the Cleveland Indians, Angels outfielder David Murphy was seen as a veteran hitter who is patient at the plate. Murphy had been off to a slow start during his stint with the Angels so far. Angels fans were hoping at some point, Murphy was due for a hit.
In todays matinee matchup against the Baltimore Orioles, Murphy’s time came in the 11th inning when he worked a full count and launched the game winning hit of reliever Brian Matusz into left center field. Earlier in the game, Murphy went deep in the third inning that gave the Angels a 4-2 lead, in which that home run was the 100th of his career.
