Role: Sports agent, Boras Corp. owner
Bio: Boras grew up in Elk Grove as the son of a dairy farmer. He walked on and played baseball at the University of Pacific, then for four seasons in the minor leagues before knee problems derailed his playing career. He returned to Pacific for a law degree and began his career as a sports agent in 1980. Representing many of the top names in baseball over the years, Boras was the first agent to negotiate contracts in excess of $50 million (Greg Maddux in 1997), $100 million (Kevin Brown in 1998) and $200 million (Alex Rodriguez in 2000).
