Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is slated to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday as he nears his return to the majors after a knee injury sustained on April 29.
Trout is expected to return to the Angels later this week, possibly as soon as Thursday against Oakland. Trout underwent surgery to repair meniscus damage in his left knee.
"He's biting at the bit to get here," Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters. "But he has to go play in the outfield.
