Mike Trout broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. More importantly, he became the youngest player with 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases in Major League Baseball history.
Mike Scioscia brought in Jose Alavarez to relieve Jered Weaver in the seventh inning and promptly gave it all back. Alvarez and Vinnie Pestano each yielded a run before Cesar Ramon got two critical outs to keep the game tied 3-3.
The eighth inning saw Johnny Giavotella get a base hit off the ankle of veteran reliever Chad Qualls and Kole Calhoun draw a full-count walk to bring up Trout again.
