Matt Shoemaker has been living the last two months on thin ice as he has struggled to find the same success as he had in 2014. For Shoemaker who had a Cinderella-like season as a 27 year old rookie in 2014 finishing 16-4 with a 3.04, 2015 has been more like Nightmare on Gene Autry Way as he has gone 5-9 with 4.76 ERA. Shoemaker has been victimized by the long ball giving up 21 home runs in 21 117.1 innings compared to only 14 last year in 136 innings. Unfortunately, for Shoemaker his slipper just broke as he was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake City as his last two starts seemed to seal his fate giving up 13 runs in 7.
