Los Angeles Angels name Dave Hansen as hitting coach

The Los Angeles Angels promoted Dave Hansen to hitting coach on Nov. 3 to replace Don Baylor. Paul Sorrento will serve as his assistant.

The Angels released Baylor and pitching coach Mike Butcher after the team failed to make the playoffs. General Manager Billy Eppler announced on Nov. 2 that the team has hired Charles Nagy to take over as pitching coach and made quick work of filling the hitting coach position by looking within the organization.

Hansen served as Baylor’s assistant for the past two seasons and filled in for Baylor during the first half of the 2014 season after Baylor injured his leg while catching the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day.
