The LA Angels brought Oberholtzer him up and he immediately was thrown into the fire right away. Oberholtzer started and did not fare well in his first appearance against Cleveland as he gave up six runs in 1.2 innings including two home runs.
Then Oberholtzer showed a little promise as he gave up only one run in 7.1 innings of work which included a spot start for the injured Matt Shoemaker. In that start Oberholtzer threw 59 pitches and had 38 strikes in three innings. This earned him a second start on September 2nd which didn’t go so well as Oberholtzer lasted only one inning giving up five runs on three hits walking two batters.
