Throughout his big league career, Joe Smith has been a model of consistency. He is widely considered one of the most effective relievers in all of baseball, and over the past two seasons he has brought stability to an Angels bullpen that has not always been at the top of their game.
Smith was drafted by the Mets in the third round in 2006 out of Wright State, and was the second player from that draft to reach the majors after making the big league club out of spring training in 2007. The Mets traded him to the Indians in 2008 as part of a three-team, twelve-player deal.
