ANAHEIM -- C.J. Cron homered twice and collected four RBIs to propel the Angels to an 8-2 win over the A's on a sweltering Tuesday night at Angel Stadium.
Cron's first home run of the night, a three-run shot off Chris Smith, capped a five-run first-inning outburst for the Angels. He later added a solo shot off Michael Brady in the eighth to extend the Halos' lead to 8-2. It marked Cron's first multi-homer game of the season and the eighth of his career.
Martin Maldonado also homered, while Ben Revere drove in a pair of runs to help the Angels secure their second straight victory over the A's, which kept them one game behind the Twins for the second American League Wild Card spot.
