Halo in baseball heaven: Vlad elected to Hall

Former Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero earned election to the Hall of Fame in his second year on the ballot.

The 2004 American League Most Valuable Player, Guerrero was a nine-time All-Star and an eight-time Silver Slugger Award winner. His 449 career home runs are tied with fellow Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell for 40th in MLB history. As a 27-year-old for the Expos in 2002, Guerrero was one home run shy of joining the 40-40 club. He batted .318/.379/.553 over the course of his 16-year career.

The results of the 74th annual BBWAA Hall of Fame election are in, and four players will be enshrined in Cooperstown, N.
