The Angels have hired former big league catcher Mark Parent, who spent the last four seasons as the Chicago White Sox’s bench coach under Robin Ventura, as their manager at double-A Arkansas, the team announced on Monday.
Parent, 54, played parts of 13 seasons with seven teams from 1986-98. He will be joined at Arkansas by new pitching coach Scott Budner, who previously coached in the Oakland and Seattle organizations, and hitting coach Brent Del Chiaro, who was promoted from Class-A Inland Empire.
Keith Johnson, who spent the second half of 2015 as the Angels’ player information coach, will return to triple-A Salt Lake as manager.
