Former Angels utility man Tony Phillips was found dead on Wednesday as a result of an apparent heart attack, in Arizona.
Phillips spent two separate stints with the Angels. The full 1995 season and four months of the 1997 season after he was traded back to the Halos from the White Sox. Phillips spent nine of his 18 year career with the Oakland Athletics including making the final play in the 1989 World Series with the A’s.
With the Angels Phillips played mostly 3rd base but also spent some time starting in left field. During the 1995 he set the Angels franchise team record as well as hitting 27 homeruns.
