TEMPE, Ariz. – Ben Revere said he started questioning his future with the Washington Nationals when he was left off their National League Division Series roster last October. He’d just endured the most disappointing season of his career at age 28, batting .217 with two home runs in 103 games.
As postseason baseball began in D.C., Revere drove home to Kentucky. Perhaps reflecting wasn’t the best thing for his psyche at the time, but he had nothing but time alone to do so.
“It was only four hours but it seemed like 15,” Revere said.
