SEATTLE – It took most of a packed September Angels bullpen to get to the satisfying ending on a day that got off to a frightening start.
Starter Matt Shoemaker left the game with a laceration on the right side of his head after he was dropped to the ground by a line drive in the second inning.
That left six Angels relievers to collaborate on the final 23 outs of a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, completing a fourth straight series victory.
Andrew Bailey worked the ninth to record his first save since 2013.
