ANAHEIM — Jered Weaver delivered a gutsy performance in his season debut Sunday afternoon, as the Angels defeated the Texas Rangers, 3-1, to split their four-game series.
Weaver allowed one run in six innings, as he struck out four batters and walked one.
The Angels improved to 2-4 and avoided what would have equaled their worst start through six games in franchise history.
Throughout spring training, the veteran right-hander, who broke in with the Angels in 2006 and is the club’s most-tenured player, faced questions as his velocity continued to dip and he suffered from neck issues.
