ANAHEIM — From the moment he first stepped to Angel Stadium’s mound early on Sunday afternoon, it looked like Garrett Richards had the stuff to throw his first career no-hitter.
The stuff remained throughout Richards’ start and he carried a no-hit bid into the seventh, but battles with his control became too much to overcome. He settled for 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball and his third victory of 2015 in the Angels’ 3-1 win over the Houston Astros.
