Final: Angels top A's, 1-0, on Pujols home run

ANAHEIM — Albert Pujols provided all the offense the Angels needed on Saturday night with one early swing. Oakland sinker-baller Kendall Graveman threw him sinker after sinker in the first inning at Angel Stadium, and Pujols timed the fourth one perfectly, powering it past the left-field wall for a solo home run.

There would be no more scoring. The Angels beat the A’s, 1-0, on the strength of Pujols’ 18th homer of 2015. It was his 10th in the team’s last 15 games. No Angel had done that since Mo Vaughn in 2000.

Pujols now stands 16th all time with 538 career home runs and 29th all time with 1,636 RBI, tied with Ernie Banks.
