ARLINGTON, Texas – The Angels needed to win 11 one-run games in the final three weeks of the season just to make it to the final day with hope alive.
But they finally paid the price for the toll extracted on those relievers in a month of grueling work.
The Angels lost 9-2 to the Texas Rangers on Sunday, ending up as the final team to be eliminated from postseason contention.
The Rangers won the American League West and the Houston Astros took the second wild card, setting up a date with the New York Yankees.
