Final: Angels burned by former teammate Matt Joyce in loss to Pirates

PITTSBURGH – The Angels’ 8-7 loss the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday included one particularly painful moment.

Matt Joyce, who suffered through a .174 average with the Angels last season, continued his bounceback with a three-run homer against his former team.

Joyce’s sixth homer of the season – he hit five with the Angels – put the Pirates up 8-3 in the seventh.

It would become the difference in the game after the Angels rallied for four runs in the eighth.

Joyce is now hitting .333 with the Pirates, who signed him to a minor league deal after his forgettable season with the Angels.
