SEATTLE – The Angels were having a great night at Safeco Field.
And then, the second inning started.
After taking a four-run lead in the top of the first, including a homer by Mike Trout, the Angels gave up nine runs in a nightmarish second on their way to an 11-8 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Friday.
The Angels trailed by seven runs heading into the ninth, but scored four times before Trout made the final out to end it.
The loss snapped the Angels’ five-game winning streak, and certainly didn’t help the stock of Brett Oberholtzer, who is vying for a spot in next season’s plans.
