Angels on-deck hitter Albert Pujols, left, congratulates teammate Mike Trout after Trout hit a solo home run off Rockies starting pitcher Chris Rusin during the first inning Wednesday.

DENVER – Johnny Giavotella, who has shown a knack for producing when the game is on the line, struck again to help the Angels move closer to first place.

Giavotella’s bases-loaded single in the ninth inning drove in the go-ahead run in the Angels’ 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies, a game that also included two more homers by Mike Trout.
