HOUSTON – The Angels’ Trout-less lineup was no match for Lance McCullers.
Playing for the second straight game without Mike Trout, who is has a sore left wrist, the Angels lost 6-3 to the Houston Astros and McCullers on Wednesday night.
McCullers, who has 2.48 ERA in his rookie season for the surprising Astros, gave up one run on five hits in seven innings.
The Angels have lost the first two games of this midseason showdown series between the top two teams in the American League West. The Angels, who had a one-game lead when the series began, are one game behind as they try to avoid a sweep on Thursday.
