Escobar shaken up on wild pitch, exits game

ANAHEIM -- Third baseman Yunel Escobar departed Friday night's series opener between the Angels and the Blue Jays after six innings with an apparent injury.

Escobar, 34, appeared shaken up after getting out of the way of a 1-2 pitch up and in during an at-bat against Danny Barnes in the bottom of the sixth. Escobar appeared to be in pain after turning away quickly from the pitch, prompting a team trainer to come out and check on him.

Escobar managed to complete his at-bat, grounding out to first to end the inning, but he was replaced at third by Cliff Pennington in the top of the seventh.
