Councilwoman requests update on stadium talks with Angels

ANAHEIM – Days after the Angels came up just short of reaching the post-season, Councilwoman Lucille Kring asked for an update on the city’s stalled stadium-lease negotiations with the Major League Baseball team.

The move comes more than a year after the Angels announced that they were walking from the bargaining table with Anaheim city officials.

The Angels have a window from 2016 to 2019 to get out of the lease for the 45,000-seat, city-owned stadium. If the team doesn’t opt out, then the current pact runs through 2029.

“We haven’t really had a chance to talk about them in almost nine or 10 months, so we need to get an update if we’re moving forward with negotiations,” Kring said late Tuesday night at the close of the City Council meeting.
