Chone Figgins gets his wish, retires with the Angels

TEMPE, Ariz. – Chone Figgins knew he wanted to retire with the Angels years ago.

“From Day 1, once I finally got a call to the big leagues, I thought, regardless of where my career goes after this, I would always want to retire as an Angel because that’s who gave me my first shot,” Figgins said Monday. “After I got that shot, it was up to me to take advantage.”

Figgins took advantage to the tune of a 12-season major league career, including eight years with the Angels as a versatile utilityman, lineup sparkplug and fan favorite.
