The Los Angeles Angels have acquired veteran closer Jim Johnson from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for minor-league pitcher Justin Kelly, it was announced Thursday.
In addition, the Angels received an unspecified amount toward their international pool space.
The 34-year-old Johnson converted 22 of 31 save opportunities for the Braves last season, and he has 176 career saves. He struggled in the role in 2017, going 6-3 with a 5.56 ERA in 61 appearances.
He also has pitched for the Dodgers, Athletics, Tigers and Orioles since breaking into the majors in 2006.
