Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols had surgery Friday to release his right plantar fascia and will be sidelined four months, the team said.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina.
Pujols, 36, battled plantar fasciitis throughout much of 2016.
He still slugged 31 home runs and 119 RBIs with a .268 average in 152 games.
