Angels within a half-game of wild-card spot after offensive outburst pounds Mariners

ANAHEIM – The Angels are on the verge of moving into playoff position, just a half-game behind the Houston Astros after handily beating the Seattle Mariners on Friday at Angel Stadium.

It was a thorough offensive effort that propelled the Angels to an 8-4 victory.

On the first pitch Seattle's Vidal Nuno threw, Erick Aybar laced it to left for a double. The fourth pitch, Kole Calhoun lined to left for an out. The seventh, Mike Trout drove for a double, and the 11th, Albert Pujols launched to left-center for a home run.
