Angels will take a look at one who got away -- Mike Clevinger

CLEVELAND – Mike Clevinger is the product of what could be one of the worst Angels trades you never heard about.

Clevinger, who is scheduled to pitch for the Cleveland Indians against the Angels on Saturday, is one of Cleveland’s top pitching prospects.

The Angels traded Clevinger, 25, to the Indians in the barely-noticed deal for reliever Vinnie Pestano in August 2014. Pestano had fallen out of favor in Cleveland and was on waivers when the Angels claimed him. The Indians let him go, in exchange for Clevinger.

Pestano ended up pitching 21 1/3 innings with the Angels in the last two seasons, allowing eight earned runs.
