ANAHEIM -- The Angels are nearing a deal to acquire right-hander Jhoulys Chacin from the Atlanta Braves, plugging another hole in their leaky rotation.
The deal has not been announced, so it's unclear who the Angels are sending back to the Braves.
Chacin, who was scheduled to start for the Braves on Wednesday night, presumably would go right into the Angels rotation, which is a starter short since Garrett Richards was placed on the disabled list, likely to undergo Tommy John surgery.
Matt Shoemaker was scheduled to be recalled to start for the Angels on Wednesday, but they still have one remaining hole in their rotation.
