Angels take a flier on former rookie of the year Andrew Bailey

CLEVELAND – The Angels, who are searching for answers for this year and beyond for their muddled bullpen, have signed former rookie of the year closer Andrew Bailey to a minor league deal.

Bailey is expected to join Triple-A Salt Lake City any day, and will probably pitch in the majors for the Angels at some point in the season’s final six weeks.

The Angels have both Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian on the disabled list, leaving a mix of inexperienced and struggling relievers in undefined roles.

Bailey, 32, has battled injuries and been unable to rediscover the success he had in his first three seasons with the Oakland A’s.
