The Angels have signed veteran middle infielder Gregorio Petit to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.
The Angels appear to already be set with Cliff Pennington as their utility infielder, but Petit could provide depth in case of an injury.
Petit, who agreed last month with the Angels, has appeared in 82 major league games over parts of four seasons. Petit, 31, has a career .254 average. He hit .167 in 42 at-bats with the New York Yankees last season.
Petit first reached the majors with the Oakland A's in 2008. He has also been with the Houston Astros.
