FRESNO – Earlier this week, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he wanted Garrett Richards to experience “real baseball” before returning to the major leagues.
On a windy Tuesday night in Fresno, Richards got just that.
In his first “real” competition in eight months, Richards began his rehabilitation assignment for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees in dominant fashion.
He struck out three of the first four batters he faced and went 1-2-3 in the first and second innings.
But the no-hit outing ended there as Fresno’s Ronald Torreyes singled to left for the Grizzlies’ first hit of the game.
