The Los Angeles Angels have reached an agreement with relief pitcher Cody Allen on a one-year deal to be their closer next season, league sources told ESPN.
Discussions over the deal, which is pending a physical, was first reported by The Athletic.
Allen, who has played his entire major league career for the Cleveland Indians, is coming off a subpar season in which he registered career worsts in ERA (4.70 ERA) and save percentage (84.4).
He struck out 80 batters in 67 innings, but his walk rate increased from 2.
