Angels reach new low in blowout loss to Cardinals that raises more questions

ANAHEIM – The Angels’ Miserable May reached its most miserable point Tuesday night.

The Angels lost, 8-1, to the St. Louis Cardinals, dropping their eighth game in the last 10. They have lost four in a row to fall a season-worst six games under .500, at 13-19.

During this nightmarish stretch – that has also seen them lose ace Garrett Richards and Gold Glove shortstop Andrelton Simmons to serious injuries – they have at least been competitive in their losses.

Until this one.

Beyond the mere ugliness of the score, this game prompted further questions about the best healthy pitcher the Angels have left.
